Shaheen Akhter Munir

Shaheen Akhter Munir

Concordia University, Canada

Shaheen Akhter Munir is a lawyer, researcher, author, and human rights activist from Bangladesh, based in Montreal, Canada for nearly three decades. With degrees in Political Science and Law from the University of Dhaka, she has spent over forty years advancing women’s rights in Bangladesh and within Montreal’s South Asian communities and broader civic institutions.  

Her work bridges legal advocacy, feminist research, and community engagement.  She served as Research Associate (2017–2022) and Affiliate Assistant Professor (2022–2023) at Concordia University’s Simone de Beauvoir Institute, Montreal.  Presently a member of Feminist Scholars and Activists Network at Simone de Beauvoir Institute.

As an artist, Shaheen’s compassionate vision continues to guide her creative practice, honoured with Honourable Mention Awards from the Women Art Society of Montreal at 127th and 130th Annual Juried Art Show, (2022 and 2025) for her Oil paintings – “Phillis Webstad’s Orange Shirt, Unmarked Graves…” and “Krisnochura: Tribute ‘71”.

Having broken free from an abusive marriage, she transformed her pain into purpose. Through her work, Angeline helps women heal, reclaim their power, and step confidently into the life they were always meant to live. Her program, podcast, speaking opportunities, and coaching sessions allow Angeline to equip women to amplify their voices and rediscover their inner strength.

Uqbah Iqbal is an Independent Researcher. Winning Second Place in Malaysian Historical Essay Writing Competition 2013, Dr. Uqbah Iqbal was the recipient of MyBrain 15 (MyPhD) Postgraduate Scholarship Program from Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and recipient of Research University Fellowship Scheme, Graduate on Time Award and Outstanding Student Award from Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as well as the Youngest Ph.D. in History Holder and the only Malaysian achieved a Ph.D. in History in conjunction with the 43rd Convocation of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He was selected for Best Researcher Award and Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1st International Research Awards on Science, Health and Engineering 2019. He's authoring notable books/ebooks such as The Historical Development of the Malay Nationalism Before Independence, The Historical Development of the Malay Society Economic Nature During Pre-Colonial Era, The Historical Development of British Investment in Malaya Before the Second World War, The Historical Development of Foreign Investment in the Formation of the Malaysian Economy and Sejarah Pemikiran Pandang Ke Timur: Kepentingan Jepun Dalam Pembangunan Sosio-Ekonomi Malaysia (1906-1980). His articles have appeared in a wide range of international and national journals such as TAWARIKH, SUSURGALUR, Management and Administrative Sciences Review, Social and Basic Sciences Research Review, Jurnal Kemanusiaan, Jurnal Sejarah, Jurnal Pengajian Melayu, Jebat, International Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research, Asia Pacific Journal of Education, Arts and Sciences, Asian Social Science and Geografia. He's also actively in the editorial board such as Asian Social Science, International Journal of Art and Literature, International Journal of Archaeology and History, American Journal of Social Sciences, Asia Pacific Journal of Education, Arts and Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, History Research and Pratidhwani the Echo. Until present he has published in 71 books/ebooks, 414 journals, organizing 1,007 conferences worldwide and received 19,012 certificates from various organizations including 93 Certificates of Excellence in Reviewing. Already 43 times in Alison Graduation Ceremony, he was the World Champion on Alison Leaderboard since 28 April 2025. In that process he achieved 172 Gold Medals, 2,285 Learning Streak and completed 6,156 courses including 613 Diplomas in the fields of IT, Health, Language, Business, Management, Personal Development, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Construction, Teaching and Academics. He’s also completed 1,949 courses from HRD Corp e-LATiH in the fields of Digital Technologies and AI, Business and Management, Leadership and Professional Development, Technical and Industrial Skills, Soft Skills and Lifestyle; completed 56 courses from Hillsdale College, 36 edX courses in the field of History of China from 7 universities and has been awarded the Legend Badge after completed 433 courses for Malaysia's National Training Week 2025. On Udemy he has been awarded the Learning Leader 2025 and completed 9,000 courses including 1 Diploma in 1,811 topics. He's also completed 585 courses from iJPW in the fields of Entrepreneurship and Skill Training, Digital Economy and Literacy, Financial Management, Women’s Leadership and Advocacy, Well-being and Special Interest and Career Development. Through his involvement as a reviewer with the Nonfiction Authors Association, 29 of his reviewed books received Awards.
